Wie is Dr. Van Parys
Dr. Michiel Van Parys is orthopedisch chirurg verbonden aan het Jan Palfijn Ziekenhuis te Gent, waar hij staflid is van de dienst Orthopedie – Traumatologie. Hij doorliep zijn opleiding tot arts aan de universiteit van Gent, waar hij naast zijn diploma arts tevens het diploma van sportgeneeskunde behaalde in 2014. Zijn specialisatie tot orthopedisch chirurg doorliep hij in het Middelheim Ziekenhuis in Antwerpen, in het Jan Palfijn Ziekenhuis in Merksem, het Sint-Augustinus Ziekenhuis in Antwerpen, het Sint-Jozef Ziekenhuis in Malle en het Universitair Ziekenhuis in Gent. Gedurende deze opleiding groeide de interesse in de aandoeningen van de bovenste ledematen. Hij bekwaamde zich verder in de microchirurgie in Frankfurt. In juli 2020 studeerde hij af als orthopedisch chirurg.
Na de opleiding bekwaamde hij zich verder in de behandelingen van de schouder, elleboog, pols en hand. Hiervoor volgde hij een subspecialisatie voor schouder- en elleboogpathologie in de Uniklinik Köln (Duitsland). Een tweede fellowship voor pols- en handaandoeningen doorliep hij in het Handcentrum (Antwerpen). Voorts ontwikkelde hij een bijzondere interesse voor aandoeningen van de elleboog. Hiervoor heeft hij een verdere opleiding genoten in het AZ Monica (Antwerpen) onder leiding van professor Van Riet.
Hij is lid van meerdere nationale en internationale wetenschappelijke verenigingen zoals de BELLS, BVOT en SECEC-ESSE.
